Hello nightwish,

if i am using the nice quick toggle and maximize the picture of the chat partner, there is a lot of empty and wasted space. And i think it makes sence to maximize the quick toggle if i use it, cause there is no sence in displaying the avatar of my opponent when i can´t see anything.
Why should the displaying of the other party be smaller than mine by default? -> that makes no sence to see myself bigger (the only thing what might make sence is: displaying myself small - an the other party big - cause i don´t need to see exactly what avatar i am using at the moment ).

Normally an avatar will be not more than 100 width, what means that we can suppose a common size for the display of other informations.

Maybe one or more of these infos here:
online since,
client type,
nick name (in stead of contactlist name),
status message,
...

Maybe it´s also an idea of using configurable informations (by variables).

What do you think of that idea?
I know that you don´t like the quick toggle - but i think if you provide it, then it should be nice and in a look which the most users love to see ... :)
I mean, most of the popular messengers have now an informing kind of message-window (cause the users are loving it).

Now i am curious about your opinion even if i know that you don´t like the toggle... and even if i know that you don´t want to add more features.

Have a nice day.
Greetings, Tigerix.

PS: I am really in love with your TabSRMM - it´s nearly perfect! Thanks a lot for your work on it!
PPS: Please don´t be to stubborn with your opinion of avatars and the toggle.

The info panel code is "final", except for bugfixes. I don't plan to add more fields to it at the moment. I may add a 3rd field to the info panel, which will be visible only if the avatar is big enough to provide the space. But that's something for a later development stage. However, it doesn't make much sense, because most protocols don't provide more information than UIN, nickname and status, only ICQ has things like online since or client ID.

But Miranda is multiprotocol, so you should never think with only a single protocol in mind. For msn, aim or yim contacts, the additional fields would be always empty.

Quick toggle does exactly what it should - toggle the panel visibility without changing the container or contacts configuration.

Everything else can be configured, including the size of the panel and thus, the size of the avatar. The panel splitter follows the same rules as the normal window splitter. It is global by default, but can be private for any contact, if needed.

I like it the way it is, because I prefer small avatar displays (around 50-60 pixels, no more). For that size, the panel layout is perfect.

As for the bottom avatar beeing larger - that's a matter of configuration. It can be the same size, it can be smaller or it can be larger.

O.k. i understand - that you say it must be dependend on all protocols.

So what about adding the status message, or the contact local time to the window?
(the contact localtime can be set by the timezone in the infotab of the details)

Status message - no, it is requested "on demand" (anything else is wrong) via a tooltip

That's already working.

There was just poping up one more idea in my head:

What about the displaying of the amount of messages (in and out) in the status bar ?
Maybe the amount of all messages in history and the amount of the running conversation.
