Hi. Is there a way to remove the buttons from the "View modes"-frame? I just want the pop-down-list to be visible. is this possible?

Nope. And won't be, sorry. But we really don't need an option for every single button. You can remove the entire frame and in skinned mode, it is possible to add the drop down list as a custom button to the skin (this is undocumented though and so far there is only one skin showing how to use custom buttons in clist_nicer+).
